This Pekak-Dadong statue (in English: The Grandparents) was made with teak wood’s roots. If you look at it closer, you can see the wrinkles on their skins which look very real. As is true in most of the world, for the Balinese, grandchildren are everything to Pekak-Dadong. Not surprisingly, Pekak-Dadong sometimes loved their grandchildren more than their children.
